4th of July in the back of Shawn's truck. We all were in Temecula watching the big fireworks. This was the year that little Brandon was scared out of his mind of the fireworks (poor guy). But kale loved them. Apparently, he loved fire then, and still does. Haha. Look at that cute face, and already in his pjs. So cute!
This was early on when we had gotten the black suburban. Man, do we miss that car! I see he's holding sunglasses (a favorite of his back then), and it appears that he's wearing a cheapy little watch. Another favorite thing of his.
Oh my. How cute is this? He has drawn a little self portrait of himself, wearing the same blue camo outfit he has on. Camo = another fave.
Now-a-days Kale likes to be "Mr. Hardcore" in his pictures. Haha. So, to get one where he's genuinely smiling, laughing or being goofy ... well, those are priceless to me. This was at Cheesecake Factory.
This was Kale's long-spikey-dyed-black-hair-stage. I loved it. :) This outfit was a bit over the top, but he wore it to the mall anyway. I love that about him.

Dear Kale:
Wow, so you're finally 15! Haha. I say "finally" because you've looked 19 for about two years. (Just kidding, my dude). Well, I'm not totally kidding. You do look way, way older than you are. It's kind of scary actually. We've been joking lately about you meeting a girl's parents and there's just no way they'd believe that you were 15. Anyway, in all honesty, the time has just flown by. You're going to be a Sophomore in August, and I just can't believe that we are where we are. Crazy. Definitely a little bit sad. That's just the way I am. But also really, really good. It's been an amazing 15 years, full of great memories, some sad one too, I'm sure. There's been phases ... think: me wrestling you to the ground (that's somewhat of an inside joke), skinny jeans, black dyed hair, legos, gi joes, coca-cola, art, taking self-portraits with the camera, disliking school A LOT, Taco Bell. Too many to list really. And I know there will be many more. We can't wait to see what the future holds for you!

Well of course he was already in his pj's (fireworks picture)..... it was probably about 4 hours past their bedtime... don't you remember, you were a freak about keepin them on schedule for bedtime. I can remember them going to bed and it was still light outside....those poor kids!!
Anyway, Happy Birthday Kale!! We love and miss you. Can't wait to see you in a few weeks!
