Mighty fine show.
As most of you know the boys played another show at Club Retro last Friday (the 17th). This is the show that they worked their tails off and set a goal of selling 100 pre-sale tickets. Well, I'm happy to report that they reached (surpassed!) their goal, and sold 109 presale tickets. Awesome and amazing, no doubt. To show up at Retro with $1,090 was quite cool for them. I'm sure Retro was impressed, too. Unfortunately, the boys did not double check the way this show would be handled, who was "putting it on", etc. They had originally been told they would be playing second, and that changed last minute as the headlining band decided to put a band they knew personally second, putting the boys in the opening spot. They had also hoped (and expected) to come home with $545 (1/2 of the presales), but because this was not an expansion show, that would not be the case. (I'm still not sure what an expansion show is.) They walked away with only $275, and they were very disappointed to say the least. But, on a brighter note, I must say these guys rock, and I don't just mean on stage. Even after being told they'd be playing first, and even though they weren't exactly thrilled, they kept their head held high and went out and did a great show. Oh, and I do have to back up a bit and say that when I arrived close to 7pm (they still had not opened the doors), there was a line (yes a long line) out into the parking lot. And now that I'm typing this, I wish I'd taken a photo. It was quite impressive. (Note to self: take picture of line next time. Haha.) All pictures courtesy of Daniel Dare. Good stuff.

The pictures are great! I wish we could have been there!
An expansion show is when a "bigger" band comes and plays with smaller bands. Because Mozart Season did not have to sell any presale tickets, they did not make any money off of that - so they need to be paid somehow, and that is by receiving some of the money from the other bands presale tickets. Does that make sense? They also make a percentage of the tickets that are bought at the door.
I personally know a few members of Mozart Season, and they are NOT the nicest people in the world. They are extremely cocky about their band and themselves, and their music isn't even that great! They are big butt heads!
I am glad to hear that the boys just kept the confidence and went out there and rocked it! Thats whats so great about them!
Love you (and Carcerys Vale),
Lex
Love the pictures of the show. All I can say is.... you live and learn. Now you know to get all the details about the show before actually arrive to set up and perform. Hey I'm sure it gave you ALOT of exposure to new people so don't sweat it!! Like I said on Austen's blog....Michael is on 10 days of vacation and we sure do wish we had the money to drive up for a visit... it sucks to spend your vacation at home. Anyway, I love the new songs and the revised ones too. Looking forward to new CD and some cool merch.
Love ya!!
