Austen had another great game last night. They won again! Austen had 7 points, and 3 steals. Everyone played great together. Love that. They are off to an amazing start, and I hope they keep the momentum going.
We do have a little predicament: Several months ago the band, agreed to play their second show at Club Retro on Saturday, 12/6. This was prior to the basketball schedule being released to us, and at the time we did not anticipate a conflict, as most games occur during the week. When the schedule did come out and we saw that there was a tournament this week, Austen was quite worried, but hoped that the game(s) would fall at a time that would not conflict with the show. Last night we quickly realized that win or lose, there would definitely be a conflict for Saturday night. What we have been able to determine is if (when) the team wins tonight, Austen will not be at Saturday’s 7pm game at all, as the show starts at 7pm in Orangevale and they are the opening act. If by chance they lose (hope that doesn’t happen), Austen could be at the 5:30pm Saturday game for approx. three periods to possibly the entire game. It would just depend on timing, and whether or not the game is moving along swiftly. If he is able to play the entire game, he would need to be excused immediately so we can make it to Orangevale in time.
As you can imagine, he is so bummed out by this. I know he feels like he’s letting the team down, I know he’s so conflicted about this whole situation. I do think he's learned a valuable lesson. Focus on one thing, if at all possible. So after this show, the band will be on hiatus until after basketball season.
